Organised by Bredin Prat
As part of Paris Infraweek, the law firm Bredin Prat organised a conference on the role of ports in the renewal and decarbonisation of French industry.
Ports are at the heart of an unprecedented energy and industrial revolution.
These key public infrastructures in world trade must rise to the challenge of decarbonising shipping vessels, by adapting ports for the arrival of innovative electrification, e-fuel or other low-carbon alternative energy solutions. These technological developments should be able to maintain the current level and speed of service but will also require considerable investment in the coming years. They are going to transform the business and activities of port management companies, which must now integrate energy expertise.
Furthermore, ports are playing an active role in the roll-out of green industrial projects, in particular for the development of renewable energies, through optimisation of their strategic lands and by facilitating synergies between energy production sectors. More
